Raphael attended Chester High School and graduated in the class of 1990. While at Chester High School he was an outstanding athlete, earning all-Delco and all-state honors in football. Upon graduation from high school he attended Georgia Southern University on a football scholarship. After transferring to Delaware State University, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Marketing. Under the intense tutelage of the former Mrs. Willa Mae James Leake, (who received her mortuary science background from the late Mr. & Mrs. Lewis M. Hunt Sr.) Raphael found his calling. He is now a licensed funeral director, having received his Mortuary Science degree from American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, Inc. in New York City. Upon graduation he began working for the W. M. James Leake Funeral Home. By the grace of God, Raphael opened his own business in August of 2002.
Raphael is the owner and operator of the Hunt Irving Funeral Home and Crematory located at 2500 Concord Road in Chester Township. He carries on the tradition of distinguished service established in Chester by his great-grandparents Lewis M. and Naomi Hunt Sr. He is the fourth generation to own and operate this family-owned funeral home and cemetery business. His compassion and dedication are well known in the community on both business and personal levels.
It was with great pride and joy that he welcomed the birth of his daughter Kailyn Vivian Irving on June 20, 2004.
